IHSATEC 2022: 15th HASIB

A remarkable event has occurred!

The International Halal Science and Technology Conference 2022 (IHSATEC): 15th Halal Science Industry and Business (HASIB) – was an outstanding event held on December 15-16, 2022. This International Conference is a collaboration between The Halal Science Center Chulalongkorn University (HSC-CU) and Research Synergy Foundation (RSF) was held in Chulalongkorn University and on virtual platform. This conference has given a chance to increase knowledge among researchers found ideas for further research, and found new research and collaboration opportunities.

This event was held in two days and both on-site and virtual conference has been a great success. Participants and audiences who attended came from various countries, such as Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Brunei Darussalam, Netherland, Gambia, Poland, Algeria, France, Switzerland, New Zealand, Egypt, Myanmar, India, Australia, Pakistan, UAE, Vietnam, and many more.

All researchers, scholars, and colleagues participated in the discussions and exchanged ideas at the scientific conference. This conference theme is to  This year, the conference brought up the theme of “Innovative Contributions Towards Halal Science and Technology” and aimed strengthen technology, industry, and business research from basic for share their thought and findings in various spectrum of Halal Science and Technology (Industry and Business). This international conference has two main programs, namely presentation and poster exhibition in Academic Session of Thailand Halal Assembly 2022.

In this conference, we discuss and shares research on Food Science and Nutrition, Food Safety and Management, Natural Products and Bioactive, Compounds, Biotechnology and Molecular Biology, Blockchain and Internet of Things (IoT), Health and Physical Science, Nanoscience and Technology, Environment and Green Technology, Post COVID-19 Management, Digital Marketing and Data Driven, Marketing, E-Business and Mobile Commerce, Artificial Intelegence (AI), Islamic Finance, and Cosmetic Science.

 

Day-1 (December 15, 2022)

The opening ceremony on Day 1 of IHSATEC 2022: 15^th HASIB was opened by a welcoming remarks from Police Major General Surin Palarae as the Secretary General of the Central Islamic Council of Thailand (CICOT). Then, a congratulatory remarks was delivered by H.E. İhsan ÖVÜT, the Secretary General, The Standards and Metrology Institute for the Islamic Countries (SMIIC).

 Then, the conference continued with report notes from Associate Professor Dr. Winai Dahlan as Conference Chair of the IHSATEC 2022.

Next, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vithaya Kulsomboon as the Director of Second Century Fund from the Chulalongkorn University delivered the inauguration address for the event.

The opening ceremony closed by a dua recitation from Mr. Prasarn Srijaroen as the Vice President of the Central Islamic Council of Thailand and Vice President of Islamic Scholar Committee of Sheikhul Islam of Thailand.

This year, the conference used two auditoriums in Chulalongkorn University Venue. The main event and keynote speakers presented speech at Room 801 and the academic presentation session was arranged at Room 701. Meanwhile, the academic posters were presented in the gallery at the archway of the auditoriums. This allowed the posters to be seen and observed by all the coming attendees and audiences.

 

Oral Academic Presentation – Day 1, First Session

The academic presentation opened with a welcome address by Mrs. Santi Rahmawati as MC.

 

The next session was an Oral Academic Presentation session morning moderated by Session Chair and Judging Committee. On Day 1, the Session Chairs and Judging Committees were:

1. Dr. Pornpimol Mahamad, Assistant Director and Researcher of The Halal Science Center Chulalongkorn University, Thailand

The first session which was on Science and Technology consisted of oral presenters who attended the conference on site at Chulalongkorn University. The discussion went lively as questions were asked and answered directly on site.

 

Oral Academic Presentation – Day 1, Second Session

The next session was an Oral Academic Presentation session moderated by Session Chair and Judging Committee as follows:

2. Assist. Prof. Dr. Pradorn Sureepong, The Halal Science Center, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand

In the second session, the discussion went around the topic of Business and Marketing, and Social Sciences. The presenters attended on-site and the questions came from both on-site and virtual attendees.

Oral Presentation – Day 1, Third Session

The next session or the last session was  an Oral Academic Presentation session  moderated by Session Chair and Judging Committee as follows:

1. Dr. Irwandi Jaswir, Dean for Academic, Research, and Publication at INHART International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Malaysia
2. Pakpum Somboon, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand

 

In this session, the topic of the presenters’ researches are around Science, Technology, and Innovation.

The discussion was very intriguing, and essential questions are looming. All of the presenters presented the results of their research with great enthusiasm. They share the knowledge from a result of research to improve knowledge. As well as getting scientific feedback from the session chairs, judging committees and audience/attendee with a Q&A session. Through this virtual conference, we still have an opportunity to share knowledge, develop knowledge together, and get a new insight for each other.

The last part of this session of the conference, is an awarding certificates to the best presenter. This selection is given based on the assessment of the session chairs and judging committees in charge of presentation sessions.

Day-2 (December 16, 2022)

On the second day of the IHSATEC 2022: 15^th HASIB, the first agenda of the day is the Signing Ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between Research Synergy Foundation (RSF) and The Halal Science Center, Chulalongkorn University (HSC-CU).  In this occasion, the signing ceremony also involved Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and Memorandum of Aggreement (MOA) between The Halal Science Center Chulalongkorn University and Universitas Islam Bandung (UNISBA) and Universitas Muhammadiyah A.R. Fachruddin.

The Launch of JHASIB

The MOA and MOU between The Halal Science Center Chulalongokrn University and Research Synergy Foundation marks the launch of JHASIB, the Journal of Halal Science, Industry and Business. The bianual journal will be published in May an November every year, starting in 2023.

 

 

Oral Academic Presentation – Day 2, First Session On-Site and Virtual

On the second day of oral academic presentation, the hybrid conference began. On site at Chulalongkorn University, there were presenters ready to present their researches, and on the virtual platform, there were also presenters located in different countries and location ready to present and have a decent academic discussion. The virtual conference also divided into two rooms which were the Main Room and Breakout Room 1. There were two sessions on Main Room and one session on the Breakout Room. The second day of oral academic presentation session was opened by Mrs. Santi Rahmawati. She welcomed all presenters and participants in this virtual room and hopes that they can actively participate in today’s session.

In the Main Room, the Oral Academic Presentation on the second day was moderated by Session Chair and Judging Committee.

There were presenters on site and on virtual platform, making this discussion a lively one with questions and answer from both platforms of the conference.

After the lunch break, all presenters and attendees both on-site and virtual were back to continue the Academic Oral Presentation.

In the Main Room, the Oral Academic Presentation on the second day was moderated by Session Chair and Judging Committee.

There were presenters on-site and also on the virtual platform. The discussion went well for the hybrid discussion and questions were coming from participants and attendees in both platform.

The last session of the conference, awarding certificates to the best presenter, best poster by presentation and vote results, and best paper. This selection is given based on the assessment of the session chairs and Judging Committees in charge of oral academic presentation and poster exhibition sessions.

IHSATEC 2022 congress was held successfully in two days.

With this hybrid meeting, it is hoped that all participants will gain valuable knowledge, and collaboration will be formed to continue research so that it is more developed.  The IHSATEC 2022 conference is held as an ecosystem of scientific meetings following to exchange and share their thought and finding in various spectrum of Halal Science and Technology (Industry and Business). It is hoped that the launch of JHASIB will also be a great environment and platform for the research in Halal Science and Technology, Industry and Business.
