A Remarkable Event Has Occurred!

The International Halal Science and Technology Conference 2025 (IHSATEC): 18th Halal Science Industry and Business (HASIB) was successfully held on December 18–19, 2025 at Al Meroz Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand, as part of the Thailand Halal Assembly 2025 (THA2025) program. The conference was organized in a hybrid format (onsite & virtual), creating an impactful platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and future research collaboration among scholars, researchers, and professionals.

With the spirit of “Green Halal: Beyond Sustainability,” IHSATEC 2025 brought forward multidisciplinary discussions connecting halal science, technology, innovation, shariah perspectives, sustainability, artificial intelligence, and strategic halal industry development through keynote sessions, panel discussions, oral presentations, poster sessions, workshops, and innovation showcases.

Day 1 — December 18, 2025 (Thursday)

Day 1 started with delegate registration followed by the Grand Opening Ceremony. The opening was marked by ceremonial proceedings, including the display of the Royal Portrait and a moment of silence, Qur’an recitation, and an opening ceremony presentation.

The ceremony continued with photo sessions and a Signing Ceremony of MOU/MOA, followed by an exhibition visit.

Keynote Session: “Green Halal: Beyond Sustainability”

The keynote session highlighted the strategic future of Green Halal through two keynote talks:

  “Infrastructure Development of the World’s First Halal Science Institution: Progressing Green Halal Research & Innovation”

• Dr. Pornpimol Mahamad (Director, HSC-CU)
  “Science Driven Approach to the Sustainable Green Halal Ecosystem”

Session 1: Green Halal & Artificial Intelligence

Session 1 explored how AI and smart systems can accelerate sustainability in halal ecosystems, chaired by Assist. Prof. Dr. Pradorn Sureephong (HSC-CU). Featured speakers included:

• Prof. Dr. Abdelaziz Bouras (Qatar University, Qatar)
  “Sustainable Intelligence: Integrating Green Digital Twins within Lifecycle Frameworks”

• Mr. Munzel Fahd K. Almutairi (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) (title not listed in the program)

  “From Compliance to Innovation: Accelerating Green Technologies in the Halal Ecosystem through IoT and AI”

After lunch and Dhuhr prayer, the program continued with parallel activities across multiple venues.

This session , chaired by Prof. Ts. Dr. Suraini Binti Abd Aziz (Universiti Putra Malaysia), discussed sustainable technology and food innovation, featuring:

  “Green Valorisation: Driving Sustainable Innovation through Food Processing Waste Transformation”

• Prof. Ir. Dr. Yus Aniza Yusof (Halal Products Research Institute, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia)
  “Green Science and Technology: Integrating Sustainability, Halal Integrity, and Functional Food Innovation”

• Dr. Nuttavut Kosem (Kyushu University, Japan)
  “Hydrogenase: Unlocking Nature’s Secret for Green Hydrogen”

Oral Presentations (OP) — Day 1

 

Day 1 featured oral presentation sessions such as:

Session 3 (OP-1): AI, Blockchain and Business — including a Global Research Ecosystem Introduction by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hendrati Dwi Mulyaningsih (Research Synergy Foundation, Indonesia), followed by academic presentations.

Session 4 (OP-2): Science, Technology, and Innovation — chaired by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Umair Arshad and Dr. Jirachaya Yeemin, featuring multiple research presentations.

The first day concluded with a warm and engaging Welcoming Dinner.

Day 2 — December 19, 2025 (Friday)

Session 5: Global Perspectives – Halal Experiences from Non-Muslim Countries

Day 2 opened with Session 5 (09:00–10:30), chaired by Dr. Adil Siripatana (University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom), featuring:

  “Serving Foods to Muslim Tourists in Japan: Practical Challenges and Understanding of Halal in the Japanese Context”

• Dr Mohammed Najmuddin (India)
  “Non-Halal Ingredients in Herbal Formulations and Possible Alternatives”

• Mr. Aleem Guiapal (Philippines)
  “Halal Friendly Philippines: Gateway to ASEAN”

Oral Presentations & Poster Sessions — Day 2

Day 2 Oral Presentation Session:

• Session 6 (OP-3): AI, Blockchain and Business in Grand Meroz Room II

• Session 8 (OP-4) and Session 9 (OP-5): Science, Technology, and Innovation (10:45–12:00) across Grand Meroz Room I & II

• A vibrant Poster Session in the Exhibition Zone, arranged into clusters for Science, Technology & Innovation and AI, Blockchain & Business, enabling deeper academic discussion and feedback.

A Virtual Oral Presentation Session for online presenters, followed by a sharing session and certificate distribution.

After lunch and Friday prayer, the program moved into one of the most anticipated thematic sessions.

Session 7: Shariah and Science for Green Halal Integrity

Session 7 , chaired by Dr. Simab Kanwal, strengthened the integration of shariah principles and scientific rigor for Green Halal integrity, with speakers including:
