The 2nd International Conference on Maqasid Al-Waḥy and the Future of Interdisciplinary Scientific Research (2nd MAFIS)

A Successful Virtual Academic Gathering on Maqasid Al-Wahy Has Concluded!

The 2nd International Conference on Maqasid Al-Wahy and the Future of Interdisciplinary Scientific Research (2nd MAFIS) was successfully held on August 26–27, 2026. Conducted entirely virtually via Zoom, the conference was a collaborative organization by the Maqasid Institute, Research Synergy Foundation, and the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilisation (ISTAC-IIUM).

Centered around the grand theme, “Operationalising Tawhidic Teleological Methodologies for the Islamic Human-Acquired Sciences,” the event brought together global scholars, researchers, and practitioners to exchange interdisciplinary scientific research and discourse.

Day 1 — August 26, 2026 (Wednesday)

Opening Ceremony and Global Research Introduction The first day commenced with participant login and a welcoming address, followed immediately by the Opening Speech delivered

 by Dr. Ildus Rafikov, Vice President of Research at The Maqasid Institute.

The program then transitioned to a Global Research Ecosystem Introduction presented

by Associate Professor Dr. Hendrati Dwi Mulyaningsih, S.E., M.M.,

Co-Conference Chair of the 2nd MAFIS Conference and Founder & CEO of Research Synergy Foundation.

Keynote Sessions — Day 1 The morning featured foundational academic insights from two distinguished keynote speakers:

Prof. Dr. Jasser Auda, Founding Chairman of the Maqasid Institute and Distinguished Visiting Professor at ISTAC-IIUM.

Professor Dr. Hazizan Md. Noon, Dean of the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilisation (ISTAC-IIUM).

Academic Parallel Presentations — Day 1 Following a lunch break that featured institutional profile videos, the academic online presentations began. The sessions were conducted across the Main Room and a Breakout Room, expertly guided by Session Chairs

Sayema Zulfeqar, MSc. Psych. (Cambridge Muslim College / Afiyah Counsel and Care, Canada).

Research presentations in this session covered critical tracks including:

Presenters discussed interdisciplinary applications of Maqasid Al-Wahy, from evaluating educational curricula and digital pedagogy to alternative dispute resolution frameworks and mental health. The first day officially wrapped up with an initial awarding ceremony and closing remarks by

Day 2 — August 27, 2026 (Thursday)

Welcome Remarks and Virtual Keynote Sessions The second day opened with welcome remarks from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Khairil Husaini Bin Jamil, Deputy Dean (Postgraduate, Research, and Innovation) at ISTAC-IIUM.

The virtual assembly then engaged with keynote addresses delivered by:

Dr. Zaid Barzinji, President of The Maqasid Institute.

Prof. Dr. Rasmitadila, Vice Dean of Research and Innovation, Universitas Djuanda, Bogor, Indonesia.

Academic Parallel Presentations — Day 2 The academic presentations continued in the Main Room, chaired by Dr. Sameeullah Bhat from the University of Kashmir. The Day 2 research tracks included:

• Islamic Education

Discussions highlighted practical operationalizations of Maqasid Al-Wahy in ASEAN blue economy governance, UN Sustainable Development Goals, mosque sanitation, and contemporary Islamic finance.

Awarding and Closing Ceremony — Day 2 The two-day conference officially concluded with a final Awarding Ceremony recognizing outstanding academic contributions, followed by the closing speech delivered by Dr. Ildus Rafikov.
